Paper or Ebook?

I have a question for all of you today!

What format of book is your favorite?

Do you like paper copies? Do you like reading on your Kindle or your Nook? Do you like reading on your phone or a tablet

I'm curious to know how many people are old school like me and definitely prefer a physical copy of the book, or if I'm just a dying breed. Am I alone in my preference? Why do I like to read paper copies instead of ebooks? Well, I know they're heavier and they take up more space, but I love holding the book. I love turning pages. (Am I weird? Please tell me someone else loves turning pages...) I like that I can flip back and reread sections or find my favorite quotes. I have yet to figure out a good way to do that on my Kindle. I have a Kindle because many of the books I review are only published as ebooks. However, if I have a choice, I always ask for the paper copy. Another reason I like paper copies is because I can share them. If I enjoy a book then I like to recommend it and loan it out to friends and family. I also like to read books and then hand them over to my kids to read. You can't do that with ebooks, and it's frustrating to me.

So, what do you think? What's your preference and why? Please vote in the poll and tell us why you like that choice in the comments! I can't wait to hear from all of you!

I prefer a paper copy because I like holding the book, I love turning pages, and I like sharing my books with my family and friends.

I prefer the eBook, for the simple reason that we move every two to three years, and maintaining/ carrying the books is getting difficult.

Oh so hard to decide! I actually use both depending on the context. I have my phone filled with books for my commute & unexpected waiting around time, but I always have a paperback beside my bed for evening reading. Great question.

Paper book every time. I have ebooks but just can't get the same experience. I return to paper books every time. I like to feel the pages, turn the pages, mark up the page with a pen (not a mouse). :) And yes, I love the smell of books too.

I love my Ipad (Nook app) for all fiction reading but if it is something for school, I prefer paper. I guess I am still "old school" when it comes to highlighting and taking notes.

I agree with you - I like to hold the book and highlight parts that I want to come back to later!

I love real, paper copy books! I've always loved books and my childhood books are my most treasured possessions. I'm very old school in this regard - like you! I find that it is easier to concentrate and become absorbed in a physical, paper book than a digital one. I think my children are the same, and I always feel sad when I see children that do all of their schoolwork digitally.

Thank you all for your comments! I forgot to write in my post that I too love the smell of the paper books. Hahaha.....I'm a big nerd! :) Keep the comments coming, I'm loving all of this!

Paper copy, of course. But I can't deny the convenience of carrying an ebook reader in my bag, instead of books, while in transit.:)
